Toni Bou wins his 24th Trial World Title in Great Britain

Toni Bou has won the title of 2018 TrialGP World Champion in advance after winning the British GP, the penultimate scoring race on the calendar. This new title is the twelfth in a row he has won in this discipline, in addition to the other twelve he also holds in X-Trial.

Toni Bou
didn’t need victory in the British GP to mathematically win the world title, but his character and winning instinct made him go all out from qualifying, where he set the fastest time in both Q1 and Q2. In the race, the protagonist of the day was Miquel Gelabert, who led the Grand Prix with authority until the last four sections, which he had previously successfully overcome, but on the second lap he made a mistake and was separated from his first world championship victory.

This situation was intelligently exploited by Toni Bou, who beat the Sherco rider by two points, giving him the victory and world title in a season especially complicated by injuries and the high level of his rivals. Second place went to Adam Raga, who took the lead in the points jump-off to Gelabert, in a great race where a fiasco in the last section due to a mechanical problem was crucial to not achieve the victory.

In this context, the last race of the World Championship looks interesting in the fight for second and third position, where Fajardo and Busto meet, but with Raga just one point away from the places of honour.
