Toni Bou remains invincible in Great Britain

tonibou-GB2015dominated the British Grand Prix, where he scored victory in the two scoring days that made up this fourth round of the championship. With the addition of these victories, the reigning world champion adds his performances this season to victories – eight in total – and maintains his unbeaten status in the last ten races.

This impressive record allows him to enjoy a very important lead of 34 points over Adam Raga when the halfway point of the calendar has not even been reached.

In Nord Vue there was a tough trial with high scores, accentuated even more by the rain that fell during the first day, which left the areas very muddy for the second day. Bou is more comfortable in difficult trials where mistakes are not so expensive and there is room for recovery.

Such comfort made Bou’s performance brilliant on both days, especially the second, where he managed to score 30 points on second-placed Adam Raga. Absolute dominance, therefore, for the Montesa rider.

Adam Raga himself has been another of the great protagonists of the weekend, signing two meritorious second positions that allow him to maintain the pulse of the championship and mark differences with Fajardo for the runner-up.

Fajardo encountered difficulties on the first day and finished fourth, something he was able to make amends on Sunday with the third podium box. On Saturday, this place was occupied by Cabestany.

Another of the great headlines of the weekend is the unstoppable consolidation of Jaime Busto, who signed two extraordinary fifth positions, beating his teammate Takahisa Fujinami on both days.

The next event will be the French Grand Prix, which will be held on June 27 and 28.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou: “I’m very happy. Today I was very comfortable throughout the trial and I’m very happy with how I rode. It was a race to remember, with a very good second and third lap. I’m very happy with the result and with this good run in the World Cup. It’s very difficult to win so many races in a row, because there’s more and more pressure and with the non-stop regulations it’s even more difficult for me. But even so, to get back to the feeling of 2012, an incredible year, means I can’t ask for anything more.”

Takahisa Fujinami: “Today I think I didn’t do well, especially on the first lap, which was worse than yesterday, because some sections changed and they were more difficult, because they were skating a lot. I’ve had several fiascos and I’ve lost focus, because I don’t remember making so many mistakes in a row in my entire career. On the second lap I did a bit better, but I think I could have improved a lot more and I’m not happy. I want to forget this result soon and come back strong in France.”

Jaime Busto: “On the first lap the trial was more difficult, because I was skating a lot. Then I tried to find a rhythm that suited me and I think that, although it could have started better, it wasn’t too bad. I’m quite happy to leave England with two fifth places, because this race hasn’t been easy at all.”
