Toby Martyn announces his retirement as a professional Trial rider

Just a few hours before the start of the Spanish Trial GP in Ripoll, sad news is confirmed for this sport and for the excitement of the top category of the Trial World Championship: Toby Martyn announces his retirement as a professional trial rider.

Toby has been Trial2 World Champion with TRRS and twice Overall Champion of England.
He is currently a Honda rider in the highest category of TrialGP and XTrial, currently being fourth provisional classified in this discipline indoors.

The only British rider in the top category leaves us with the impossibility of consolidating a sustainable project to earn a living as a rider.
In fact, Martyn made headlines in Cahors when he could not participate after running out of backpacker, who decided not to board at the last minute to the French city.

Toby has flirted with hard enduro with Honda with great results, so it is a possible outlet for the rider for 2025.
A path that has already been followed in the past by riders such as Alfredo Gómez, Taddy Blazusiak, Francesc Moret or Miquel Gelabert, although the latter with a return to trial.

Sad news that shows the lack of opportunities in the sector outside the official teams, leaving professional trials really reserved for a group of just six riders.
