The Trial World Championship comes to an end with the Spanish GP in the Girona town of Ripoll, which will also host the Vintage Trophy, reserved for classic trial bikes.
During the weekend of September 13 to 15, Ripoll will dress in Trial and prepares to receive the best riders in the world, having to crown on Sunday the new world champions of Trial2 and both women’s categories, whose title is not yet decided.
In the top category, the champion, Toni Bou, who added his 18th outdoor title in France, is already decided, while the excitement will be in the fight for the runner-up position between Gabriel Marcelli and Jaime Busto.
Right now the advantage is for the rider from Montesa, but the comeback is possible, especially if we take into account that Jaime has been the only one able to overtake Bou this season and score a victory.
There are 7 points that separate them.
Fourth place seems to be consolidated in favour of Adam Raga in his first year with Sherco, having distanced himself from Matteo Grattarola, who until Belgium was still in contention for this position.
In Trial2 the excitement is maximum and nothing is said.
The top favorite is Jack Peace, who if he manages to maintain the advantage of at least 20 points over the next classified on Saturday, will be champion.
The runner-up position is more disputed, with Farré, Canales and Green with options.
There will also be excitement to know who will be the first electric in the category: right now they are separated by 5 points.
In Trial3 we already have a winner, George Hemingway.
Looking ahead to the runners-up position, it is difficult for SIM to give up on Piquet, as they are separated by 13 points, but anything is possible.
In TrialGP Women he is open, but very focused on Emma Bristow.
Berta Abellán, winner of the French GP in Cahors, is 10 points behind.
The tricky thing is that it will be difficult to see Emma outside the TOP3, so Berta is obliged to win both days and wait for Emma’s ruling.
In Trial2 Women the leader is Martina Brandani, with 12 points over Laia Pi, who still has a chance, although it depends on the Italian rider failing and getting off the podium.
Sara Trentini, winner of France, is the favorite to complete the podium.
FRIDAY FIM TRIAL VINTAGE TROPHY
With three-time FIM Trial World Champion Yrjo Vesterinen as Master of Ceremony, a very special event will once again be held, reserved for classic trial bikes.
A show that will recall the years of the Bultaco Sherpa, the Ossa Mar or the Montesa Cota.
Ripoll will host this race in two scoring days.
The FIM Trial Vintage Trophy will once again include two adapted categories.
The blue arrows will be for competitors of the 2024 FIM Trial Vintage Trophy – open to all vintage double shock absorber bikes – as well as for competitors of the FIM Trial Vintage Motorcycle Trophy, reserved for double shock absorber machines of unmodified origin (see regulations), while the green “support” arrows will offer easier alternative routes.
The race will be held under the “non-stop” regulations, and the scores of the two days will be combined to decide the final positions.
The results will be moderated depending on the age of the rider.
