With the cancellation of the Japanese Trial GP two months ago, it seemed that the calendar of the 2021 Trial World Championship was well shored up, but the Covid19 pandemic is forcing organisers and federations to rethink again a season that, like 2020, will be held under extraordinary conditions and with a significant cut in locations.
The latest news is the cancellation of the GP of the Czech Republic, scheduled for June 5 and 6 in Sokolov. Consequently, and barring future updates, the world championship will start with the Italian GP in the following week, on June 12 and 13, in Tolmezzo.
KICK-OFF WITH THE ITALIAN GP
In Tolmezzo there will be two days of scoring competition, where the categories of TrialGP, Women’s TrialGP, Trial2, Women’s Trial2 and Trial125 will meet. There will therefore be no TrialE, which will be joined with the French GP in Charade.
The British GP, scheduled for 9 and 11 July, has been delayed until 8 October and the final round of the TrialGP and TrialGP Women categories will be held on the day before the Trial of Nations.
To compensate for the cancelled events in Japan and the Czech Republic, there will be two days of competition at each round, except for the second French round in Cahors on 28 and 29 August, bringing the total number of scoring days to 11 for TrialGP and Trial2 competitors.
All dates, events and the eventual attendance of spectators are subject to the evolution of the pandemic and the approval of the corresponding governments and authorities.
