The national trial championship kicks off with victory for Toni Bou

The 2016 Spanish Trial Championship started today in Sant Joan (Mallorca) for the TR1, while for the rest of the categories it was the second scoring event (see CET La Nucia chronicle).
The Balearic route, popularly known for its difficulty and demand, has seen its difficulty increased by the rain that fell the day before, causing the organization to take measures and improvise radical changes in the areas to make them more accessible. Even so, the pilots decided not to approach the first area because they found one of the crossings dangerous. Therefore, all TR1s started the course in the second zone with 10 points on their scorecards.
From a sporting point of view, Toni Bou put in a spectacular performance. He only dropped four points in the first pass through the zones and one in the second, achieving a resounding victory ahead of his main rival, Adam Raga, who committed two fiascos in the first lap and another in the second lap, finishing with 27 points 12 behind Toni Bou.
The fight for third place has been very exciting. Cabestany and Farre were tied in the penultimate section, where a foot from the young Gas Gas rider took him away from his first place in the top flight. Podium for Cabestany. Fifth, with 38 points and only three from Farre, was Jaime Busto. Sixth was Jorge Casales, followed by Fajardo, Gelabert, Tarrés and Noguera.
In TR2 victory for Jose María Moral, followed by Sam Obrado and Marc Riba.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou: “Obviously, I’m much happier with this year’s result here in Mallorca than with last year’s, as starting the Spanish Championship with a win is very important. We had a lot of problems with the weather, because it was a very complicated race due to the rain and mud that formed; It has transformed the sections and we needed a lot of time to try to overcome the obstacles without fails”
Jaime Busto: “Today I’m not very satisfied with how the race went. It was a strange trial, with a lot of stopping and starting… And I wasn’t comfortable with that pace. Even so, I think I was going quite well, in a position to finish on the podium, but the last section choked me and I took the ten points that left me out of the box. Too bad. For me, these types of areas that skate so much, they don’t go well for me.”
