The battle continues at the Andorra GP 23-24J

challoner4802The Outdoor Trial World Championship has already passed the halfway point of its calendar and faces its final stretch with a very important event on the calendar, that of the Country of the Pyrenees (Andorra), which will take place on June 23 and 24.

It is a A decisive and very difficult test for the pilots, both technically due to the steep slopes and obstacles of the terrain, such as physics because of the high altitude at which the route is designed, as well as mechanically as the set-up of the bikes is much more complex.

To these conditions we must add that the Grand Prix will be held over two days with independent points between them, adding another extra point of sacrifice and difficulty to the drivers. In addition, they have just competed in another double-day Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix, so the physical aptitudes of the drivers will be decisive in the course of the competition.

From a sporting point of view, Toni Bou has a solid lead of 41 points at the top of the provisional standings and, if he maintains this same trend, he could leave the championship practically sentenced. The rider from Piera has benefited in recent races from the irregularity of his main rivals. Cabestany, Fajardo and Raga have all been left off the podium in some races. This fact has strengthened Bou’s lead and also led to the three riders being in a fist of only two points. Therefore, anything can happen in the fight for the runner-up spot and the excitement will be maximum.

Behind them is Fujinami , still sore from the blow to his right hand a few days ago, but who is always among the favourites and can cause an upset.

Nor should we forget the beautiful fight between riders such as Dabill, Challoner and Oliveras to get closer to the top 5. Keep an eye out for this group as well.

JUNIOR

In Junior, we hope that some of our main riders, Moret, Tarrés or Casales , who already tasted the podium in 2012, can once again break the winning streak of the great favourite: Alexandre Ferrer.

WOMEN

In Andorra we will also see the first scoring event for the women’s category, where Laia Sanz is the main favourite and will fight to keep the 2011 title in force. Keep an eye out for Sandra Gómez and Mireia Conde, two other great riders who will be looking forward to the podium.

In short, a lot of expectation and good trial is what this coming weekend has in store for us in the Andorran country.  As always, we’ll be keeping a full eye on Trialworld.
