Tarragona hosted these past Saturday and Sunday the first race of the national Classic Trial. This season the participants of this competition will have four races, all of them of two days, following the same line as in recent years and with the aim of reducing costs but having a first-class Cup.
The inaugural event was held this past weekend in Tarragona, by the hand of the Moto Club Tarragona, and with more than 100 registered in the categories called: Pre-75 Yellow, Pre-80 Green, Trialeros, Classics and Experts. The rest of the races will be held in Sigüenza (Guadalajara) on April 27 and 28; in Monte Naranco (Oviedo) on 1 and 2 June and in Robregordo Horcajo de la Sierra (Madrid) on 5 and 6 October.
With this calendar, its drivers are going to have a spectacular 2019 season where only their prowess on top of their wonderful machines will make them enjoy each event.
Maximum competitiveness on both days
On Saturday, and in the Pre-75 Yellow category, Roberto Mendibil took the victory by performing a great race in which he did not penalize even once. Vicente Montoro was second and José Hervás third. In the Classics, Fernando Cabré also failed to score any points, thus placing himself at the top of the standings. Rodrigo García finished second and Vicente Arturo de Miguel third.
Jaume Bonfill won in Pre-80 Greens doing a perfect test. José Gabriel Dasi had to settle for second and Michel Ranc third. Manel Campoy, with one point, took the victory in Trialeros followed by Bertrán Martínez-Peñalver and Juan Rossello. Oscar Mill, Jaime Mora and Diego Urreta were the best of Expertos on Saturday.
Already on Sunday things were very similar in some categories, although in others the winner changed. In this way, in Pre-75 Amarillos, Roberto Mendibil, José Hervás and Víctor Martín won; in Classics Vicente Ríos, Joaquim Lara and Fernando Cabre; in Pre-80 Greens Jaume Bonfill, Michel Ranc and Antonio Guillem; in Trialeros Xavier Valles, Jaume Roig and Miquel Ramón and in Experts Oscar Mill, Pere Antón Mill and Jaime Mora.
The next round of the RFME Spanish Cup of Classic Trials will be held in Sigüenza, Guadalajara, on the weekend of April 27 and 28.
