Raga goes all out in Pobladura

RAGA480Next weekend the FIM SPEA Trial World Championship arrives in Pobladura de las Regueras (León), to face the fourth scoring race. It is a very charismatic event, as the bulk of the great riders are Spanish and will try to do well at home.

One rider who arrives in Pobladura with a lot of enthusiasm is Adam Raga, who holds the provisional second place in the championship and will try to intimidate Bou, who remains the main favorite to renew the crown in the 2011 season. Raga already knows what it’s like to win two outdoor world titles, in 2005 and 2006.

After a low-key start to the 2011 season, Raga arrived in France eager to shake off Germany’s thorn. He did it the best way: by winning. This has given wings to Raga, who sees Bou as a strong rider, but beatable, as he showed in the French event.

“The start of the season wasn’t good for me. I came to the hope of fighting with Toni in Germany, although in the end I left with a bitter fourth place. I made too many mistakes in Germany and I wasn’t as focused as I should have been.” After this, Raga arrived in France with wings and a more accurate approach that earned him victory in the first of the two scoring days.

“When I arrived in France I knew I had to get a good result if I wanted to stay close to Toni in the Championship. Dougie had an ankle injury so he couldn’t compete and instead he was helping me. It was great to have him by my side, as Dougie’s experience and confidence is a boost and there is no doubt that he has been key to achieving these results.”

Now Raga is only seven points behind Bou, so everything is to be decided. “I’m excited about holding this race in Spain. I know that Bou will try to give his best in his home GP, but I’m confident because I’ve won races there and I’m sure we can have a good race, although the terrain is very demanding and varied, with stones, water and a lot of loose rocks. It’s not an easy place to drive.”
