Marti Riera and Daniel Cegarra, 2021 UCI Trials Junior World Champions

Spain’s Martí Riera, who had already won gold in the team event on Wednesday, delighted the home crowd by qualifying first in the semi-final of the men’s junior 20″.

His 700 points were more than 100 points ahead of Switzerland’s Loris Gonzalez (590 points), who qualified second. Italy’s Diego Crescenzi was third.

In the final, Riera gave a masterclass in balance, agility and cunning by performing five zones with 60, 60, 50, 50 and 60 points respectively, to win with 280 points. Gonzalez secured the silver medal thanks to his 200 points, just 10 ahead of Spain’s Nil Benitez.

Junior men’s 26″: Daniel Cegarra’s consistency is rewarded

In the Junior Men’s 26″ category, the final looked like it was going to be a battle between the Frenchman and the Frenchman Charles Chibaudel, Czech Tomas Veprek and Spanish Daniel Cegarra, who topped the semi-finals with 440, 440 and 430 points respectively, which was 100 points more than the next driver, Andrej Galovic (SVK).

And so it was, to some extent, as Cegarra joined Riera to add to their team gold from day one, with a winning effort of 220 points.

A 50-point finish zone allowed him to edge Veprek by 70 points. Veprek’s compatriot Vojtech Kalas won bronze with 130 points. Chibaudel was unable to replicate his early days form and finished fourth.
