Great victory for Toni Bou at the Barcelona Indoor Trial

Toni Bou has achieved his first victory of the 2016 season in such a special and important scenario for riders as the Barcelona Indoor Trial, in front of his fans and with a very demanding route that has been reflected in the high scores.
For Toni Bou, the Palau Sant Jordi is a talismanic setting. There he has won every race held in the last decade. This occasion is also special, as it allows him to surpass his main rival in the general classification, Adam Raga, and place himself leader of the championship at the halfway point of it.
The race started at 17:00 with the qualifying round, where again the same Sheffield drivers stood out: Bou, Raga, Cabestany and Fajardo. Fujinami was on the verge of scoring just one point more than Fajardo. After the Japanese, Ferrer, Karlsson and the guest rider Jaime Busto.

In the final we found a couple of critical points. At the entrance to zone 3, both Cabestany and Raga use the toes of their boots (on the stirrup) and the judge determines three points in both cases. This was where Bou’s first differences with respect to his opponents were marked.
On the other hand, zone 5, which ended up being impassable for all the pilots. Toni Bou also had a big fall after jumping from more than 3 meters without his bike. Fortunately, the pilot recovered quickly.
Otherwise, as in Sheffield, the race was again decided in the last section. However, this time it was enough for Toni Bou to overcome with less than five points, an area that presented no problems for any rider. A well-deserved victory for Toni Bou, who is now the new leader of the 2016 X-Trial World Championship.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou: “It’s clear that I’m very happy: winning in Barcelona is always very important. Also, after second place in Sheffield and in such a short championship, it’s very difficult to get here and not be nervous. On the first lap I felt more comfortable than on the second, where I started very well and I was able to make a difference in zone 3 by taking risks, but then I had a problem on zone 5, which I think I could have overcome. It was a hard-fought victory with a lot of nerves and I’m very satisfied with this result for the championship.”
