Gabriel Marcelli has been proclaimed Trial2 World Champion in a season where he has staged a great comeback and has been able to beat the veteran Matteo Grattarola in the Spanish GP, at home, held in La Nucía (Alicante).
He only needed to be ahead of the Italian rider, as the gap between the two was only one point, but he worked both laps to consolidate a victory that also gave him the title of the category in 2019.
The 19-year-old rider, from O Rosal (Pontevedra), is part of the RG Trial Team and rides a Montesa Cota 300RR.
We must remember the great merit of Marcelli, who suffered a serious accident in training in 2015, where a frontal impact of his face against the rocks fractured his skull and several teeth, keeping him out of training for a long period, where he also had several surgeries. Gabriel managed to turn the page. He moved from Galicia to Catalonia, the cradle of trial. An obvious step like the one that Jorge Casales already followed at the time, which allowed him to mature as a rider and also as a person.
Now, Gabriel Marcelli’s natural leap will be to the top category, TrialGP, where Montesa has him in mind for its future plans to strengthen its official structure.
