Follow-up to Six Days of Scotland 2013. Day 2: Wigg & Connor Co-Leaders

SSDT13 1Scotland 2013 has begun. Riders from up to seventy countries gather in Fort William to take part in the most emblematic and authentic race of all those held on a Trial bike. With 800 kilometres to cover over 6 days of competition , the Scottish are a test of endurance, precision, technique and passion.

Once again, the British riders, experts in wetlands and round river stones such as those that make up much of the Scottish course, are the contenders to beat. Among them, great figures such as Lampkin, Dabill, Brown or Wigg. At the front, great Spanish riders such as Pascuet or Moret will also be looking to make things difficult for them.

DAY 1. BROWN AT THE HELM

On the first day , equality and expectation were maintained from start to finish. Finally, absolute dominance of the Gas Gas team, with Brown at the front , without penalty, followed by Lampkin, with one point, and Wigg, with two to his credit.

The first national rider is Francesc Moret, fourteenth, with seven points, the same as Jordi Pascuet.

DAY 2. ALEXZ WIGG CO-LEAD WITH SAM CONNOR

The second day of competition in Scotland has gone smoothly and in a much more appealing setting for the riders, as The heavy rains of the last few days, which even forced the suspension of a day of the Pre-65s, has given way to a sunny and dry day of competition.

Sportingly, the provisional leader, Michael Brown, lost three points in the standings that displace him from the first position in favor of Alexz Wigg and Sam Connor, who finished the day without penalties. Another of the big favourites, Dougie Lampkin, added two more points and gave up three positions, placing fifth right now.

After these two days of competition, the scores are quite tight, with 13 riders in a handkerchief of only five points.

Among the Spanish riders, the first classified, in 17th position is Jordi Pascuet, followed in 19th position by Francesc Moret, who also stands out as the best rookie and Jordi Picola one place behind.

DAY 4. LAMPKIN LEADER

As expected, Thursday’s day was the longest and toughest of all those played in this edition. Lampkin took the opportunity to overtake his compatriot, Alexz Wigg, and took the reins of the competition. The fact that he has scored a single penalty point gives him a small advantage over his closest pursuers, which are Sam Connor, Alexz Wigg and Macdonald.

The best of the day were Dabill, who continues to climb positions and is now eighth, as well as Hemingway.
