Dougie Lampkin withdraws from the World Cup

lampkin_450At the age of 36 and with a track record that confirms him as one of the most important riders in the history of Trial, Dougie Lampkin officially announces his retirement from the Trial World Championship.

Motivated by an ankle injury that does not keep him at 100% of his physical capacities, the British rider confirmed on his website that he is leaving top competition after 257 Grands Prix and almost two decades living for and for Trial.

Since his debut in the World Championship, in 1993 , Lampkin became a tough nut to crack for Jordi Tarrés, who would eventually equal him in world titles: seven. He says goodbye with the thorn of having been only one victory away from the hundred to his credit, but the level of the current favorites turned that challenge into almost a utopia.

In this way, Lampkin leaves the World Cup ship with his best smile and a team that loves him, such as Gas Gas. In Lozoyuela we could already see him helping Raga and probably also collaborate in the development of future models or competition components. A similar role, although concentrated on other tasks (tyres), is what Amós Bilbao does today for Montesa.

However, Dougie will continue to wear bibs to compete in the most mythical and extreme races, both Trial and Enduro , such as the SSDT, the Sctott Trial and other international competitions.

From Trialworld we wish the best of luck to Lampkin in his next professional steps.
