Busto speaks out on Antonio Trueba’s letter

JaimebustomontesaIn response to Antonio Trueba’s  Open Letter

Dear Antonio,

Without wishing to polemicize about the current signing of our son for a brand different from his own and putting in the first place the gratitude of his collaboration during these last three years, I believe in the need to make certain aspects public knowledge.

First of all, clarify that our son is a minor, so all the decisions that are the responsibility of his mother and me, who at the time thought that the future of our son was focused on trial and we wanted for him a sporting and personal project to long-term.

Jaime’s sporting life began when he was 6 years old in the so-called “Campeonato de Nens” of Catalonia, a benchmark championship. For those who don’t know, we live in the Basque Country , and competing so far from home meant a great economic and personal effort assumed by the family for 8 years, an effort rewarded by their achievements and their sporting and personal growth . He won the championships of Catalonia in all the categories he went through, and the championships of Spain from youth 80 to Junior and even the European championship “Youth Inter”.

It was then that Beta became interested in our son and with the support of his brand he won the European “Youth 125” championship, the Spanish Junior championship and the TR2. Last year he moved to live in Catalonia, winning the Junior World Championship also helped by the RFME (Royal Spanish Motorcycling Federation) which covered the travel and registration costs.

With this I want to make it clear that all the necessary groundwork was done at home, the result of the great personal and economic effort of our family, as I have already mentioned.

In February 2013 we signed a contract with Beta, always thinking, as parents that we are, first of all about the sporting and personal future of our son, with Beta we have obtained, as I have already mentioned, the Spanish TR2 championship and the Junior World Championship. Already in hindsight, with the expenses of the World Cup in hand, it became evident that the signed contract He wasn’t going to allow us to play another World Cup and that’s how we made it known to the brand.

Unfortunately, the new contract we were offered did not allow us to continue with our son’s sports project. We also talked about the latter with you. After this, we decided to take advantage of the termination clause contemplated in the contract that you signed. and look for other options.

The one that seemed to us to offer the most guarantees for our son was Honda, and that Don’t be fooled, it’s not an option that has arrived with a checkbook full of zeros, but with a solid project and demonstrating a confidence in our son that we did not know how to see in the conversations we had with you. We deeply regret that now that our son has left his team, he is being given a value that he did not want to recognize in the contract to be signed.

I would like to thank you again for your trust and your work during this time, that is something that no one wants to fail to recognize. I think we gave it back to Beta with a national and a world title that we will always proudly share.

And to conclude, saying that a new stage begins for our child, it will go better or worse is something we do not know, time will tell, but as parents it is our responsibility to think about the personal and sporting future of our child and the consequences of our decisions will fall exclusively on us.

Best regards
Javier Busto
