Bou, World Champion

bou_mundial_okToni Bou has won his fifth consecutive Indoor Trial World Championship title, after winning the fifth and penultimate round of the 2011 calendar. The Montesa-Repsol team rider has won all his participations this season, demonstrating with his records that he is at a stratospheric level, both technically and psychologically. It’s hard to see him fail; He makes his performances a real spectacle for the public and his humility as a person has won over all fans of this sport.

In Madrid, the rider from Piera shone again with his own light, staying at the front solidly and lifting the more than 9000 spectators from the saddle with his skill at the controls of the bike. Bou still feels comfortable in the complex races and in Madrid he enjoyed it very much, even though two of the sections were not finally completed by any rider. Even so, the rider from Montesa put on a show in both areas.

The excitement was also in what would happen between Raga and Cabestany. Finally, the Gas Gas rider managed to overcome the Sherco rider and scratch some valuable points that allow him to continue opting for the runner-up position in the last round, which will be held next weekend in the Italian city of Milan. There, both of them put everything on the line.

The three riders were very evenly matched during the final, although it was in the final sections where Bou distanced himself and set his overwhelming pace. Fajardo was the fourth in contention after a very remarkable performance, where he surprised by the apparent good performance of his Ossa TR 280i.

Eliminated in the qualifying round were Fujinami, who is still not at the level of his rivals, and Challoner who continues to prove his worth and good work. Without a doubt, we have to count on him for future editions and we will see if he does not surprise this year during the Outdoor World Cup. In the first round, Brown and Dabill stayed again, as well as the guest rider Alfredo Gómez.

According to Bou: “All the titles are special, but this one has been very special, both because of the performance of the whole team, and because of the great difficulty that all the races have presented. I think that was the key and that’s why I felt very comfortable. Madrid is always special, because my main sponsor is there and the influx of people is very high. I want to thank everyone, especially my family and the team.”

According to Cabestany: “I didn’t come here thinking about the World Championship, as I knew that rather than winning it I could only delay it, except for an accident or force majeure situation that no one wants, so my goal was to consolidate the runner-up position and maybe the mistake was there, not being ambitious, so it was a bad day and I leave very dissatisfied with my driving.”

According to Raga: “Today’s race went well, I think I was at a good level and my riding was optimal. It is clear that everything can be improved. Regarding the last race, in Milan, I will go out at full throttle, to give everything, I have nothing to lose. I’ll try to fight as hard as I can for the runner-up spot.”

TONI BOU’S TENACITY

bou_campeon_2Bou’s sporting career has always been linked to the Beta team, where he managed to stand out on his own merits and where he also won one of the most important titles of his life: the Spanish Championship in 2006, unseating the powerful Adam Raga. From then on, he signed for the most powerful and mediatic team in the paddock, Montesa-Repsol. In 2007 he surprised in his first appearance with a four-stroke motorcycle, the Montesa Cota 4RT, winning the Indoor World Championship and then the Outdoor World Championship. Since then, Bou counts his participations in both championships by titles. Unbeatable.

His refined technique, together with the tenacity and perseverance that he has always mastered in his training, the rider from Piera is already one of the most important riders in the history of this sport. His youth and strength make us foresee that there are still many more achievements to celebrate and lines of glory to write in the history of this sport.
