Biography and honours of Toni Bou

Born on October 17, 1986, and living in La Massana (Andorra), Toni Bou’s career as a rider began in biketrial when he was eight years old. After winning the world championship in this category in 1999, Bou swapped his bike for the trial bike.

ABOUT TONI BOU

Once immersed in the motorcycle trial discipline, the rider began to accumulate titles. In 2001 he was crowned Spanish Youth Champion; followed shortly afterwards by the 250cc European Cup, and was the most promising rookie in 2002. In 2003, he claimed victory at the European Championships. Later, in 2005, the rider was part of the team that triumphed in the Trial of Nations, was runner-up in the Spanish Indoor Trial Championship, and finished in fifth place in the Outdoor Trial World Championship.
The following year Bou took his first victories at the highest level, both indoors (third at the World Championships) and outdoors, where he once again finished fifth overall.

TONI BOU LEAVES BETA AND SIGNS FOR MONTESA

Toni Bou signed for Repsol Montesa Honda for the 2007 season, and immediately won the Indoor Trial World Championship. On board the Montesa Cota 4RT, Toni Bou won four of the eight races on the indoor calendar. This great performance places him among the favourites to win the Outdoor Trial World Championship, where he also stamped his authority on the event with an imposing nine out of eleven possible victories. The Repsol rider rounded off the year by winning the Spanish Indoor Trial Championship for the third time in a row, and as a member of the Spanish national team in the Trial of Nations.
The following year he repeated the victory in the Indoor Trial World Championship, as well as seven wins and five second places in the Outdoor Trial World Championship, where Bou took the honours for the second year in a row. To close the season, the Spaniard, along with the national team, won the title in the Trial of Nations, and once again, collected the title in the Spanish Indoor Trial Championship.
In 2009 Toni Bou was going from strength to strength, both in the Outdoor and Indoor Trial World Championships. He won four out of five of the indoor events, and seven of the eleven races the outdoor championship consisted of.
Toni Bou continued to achieve his goals in 2010, winning all the competitions except the national trial, where he finished second.

The rider from Piera, Barcelona, dedicated himself to retaining the number one number one in the 2011 season. In March, he secured the title in the new X-Trial -Indoor Trial- after six out of six wins on the calendar; and in September, the Repsol rider won his fifth Outdoor Trial World Championship with 7 wins, 2 runners-up and 2 third places.
Once again, with a full set of victories in the X-Trial World Championship, Toni remained untouchable in the second half of the 2012 season. In the outdoor world championships, Toni Bou took eleven victories – eight of them in a row – as well as a second and fourth place, which allowed him to win a sixth outdoor title with two races still to be played. Bou rounded off a near-perfect year by, once again, claiming honours in the indoor and outdoor versions of the Spanish national championships.
As he had done twice before, Toni Bou closes the 2013 edition of the X-Trial World Championship undefeated, taking his winning streak with 21 consecutive wins. The Repsol rider then won his seventh indoor title on home soil, surpassing Dougie Lampkin’s record of 12 championship wins.
Tonibou Face
With a new engine on the Montesa Cota 4RT and the new nonstop championship rules prohibiting pauses in the area, Toni Bou once again shone throughout the 2013 outdoor championship and took the title for the seventh year in a row. In an exciting head-to-head with Adam Raga, the championship went directly to Toni Bou after achieving 7 wins, 4 second places and 2 third places. By the age of 26, Repsol had reached an impressive 14 consecutive world championships – 7 outdoor, and 7 X-Trial.

ALL-TIME RECORD FOR TONI BOU

2014 saw a Toni Bou as ambitious as ever, breaking all records in the process; Bou becomes the first rider to win eight world titles every day, bypassing the legend of Giacomo Agostini in the process. In March, Bou took victory at the Indoor Trial World Championships, and six months later, he once again made history by winning the Outdoor Trial World Championship for the eighth time. Race legends such as Jordi Tarrés and Dougie Lampkin have been dragged in their wake. The new name of the race is Toni Bou.
