Berta Abellán has been proclaimed Spanish Women’s Trial A Champion after winning the two races held this past weekend in Pobladura de las Regueras (León), after an intense head-to-head with Neus Murcia.
Berta’s season has been impressive: leader of the European Championship, podium in the 1st round of the World Championship and 2nd overall, and this weekend, new Spanish Trial Champion 2018. As usual in this campaign, things were very tight between the top three classified, with Abellán being the one who would end up taking the cat to the water both Saturday and Sunday. As happened to the TR1 riders, the mud put all the participants in serious trouble, a fact that combined with some areas in which it was difficult to make differences, required maintaining concentration at all times so as not to make mistakes and lose the options to fight for victory.

victory was created
thanks to two very solid laps, with 15 and 14 points respectively. Being the best in both, no one could dispute her victory. On Sunday –

– the key was in the 2nd pass. In the 1st he had scored 8, to Murcia (Beta) 6, who was the one who led. So it was time to push to improve and get the win again. And so he did, an incredible score of 3 gave him the lead and earned him back to the top step of the podium.
The Abellán Championship has been sensational. After the first two races, in which she had finished 2nd in both, she won in Sarrià de Ter and also the two days in Pobladura, proclaiming herself with total merit, Spanish Trial Champion 2018. This is also the first national title for Vertigo.

“On the first day I scored 15 points on the 1st lap and 14th on the second. It was very tight with Neus Murcia, as we were playing for the Campenato. After being able to win on Saturday, on Sunday I was able to go a little less pressured, although the differences were again minimal. It rained both days, there was a lot of mud and in general the level was easy, so it was very easy to make mistakes. Finally, I’m very happy with the result, the treatment and the desire that we have put into it among all the team to win the Championship”.
