After the presentation at Trialworld of the new Hebo boot collection, where we introduce you to the novelties and first impressions of the Technical range, it is time to go straight to the areas and complete the test with dynamic sensations.
Before that, let’s put you in the situation. After the production, with not too much success, of the Hebo Tech Comp boots with Boa closure system (until 2019), the Girona brand opted to return strongly to a more traditional system, but with interesting innovations. That’s what their DNA demands.
Well, the trial boots you see in this report are the third evolution of that work. From the first to the second generation, deep work was done on the reliability and airtightness of the boot, introducing specific modifications in the finishes. One of them, for example, was the inner ankle reinforcement, which received more robust seams.
In this third generation at first glance it would seem that there are no major changes, except for the chromatic, but there are. In 2021, work has been done on the instep, revising its shape to slim it and reduce the height compared to its predecessor. The entire heel area has also been revised to improve flexion movements.
The upper closure has also been revised, recalculating the adjustment system in length and usability to facilitate the entire operation of putting on the boots.
At the end of this article you will find more information about the Hebo Technical 2021 boots, such as weight, available colors, finishes and prices.
Hebo Trial Boots Test 2021
As soon as you take them out of the box, the first thing to do is to weigh the boots. The precision scale yields a weight of 1,270 grams for each boot, which places them in an average market position, being the lightest around 1,150 grams, so therefore an acceptable figure in this first section.
The finishes are one of its strengths. We see that the last of the boot is significantly larger in dimensions than its rivals, something that can perhaps hinder you while walking, but instead offers you an extraordinary feeling of poise and firmness on the bike .
Fit is another strong point. On the one hand we have the traditional closures, which are comfortable and effective. We like that the bottom closure is well protected against shocks by a plastic reinforcement. As for the top closure, Velcro, it is very comfortable. In this edition they have improved the ease with which the strap itself fits over the shin guard (in previous models the space was too small and it was difficult to approximate the strap) and in a few seconds you achieve a perfect fit of the boot on the calf. What we like most about this solution is that it prevents mud and water from entering through the top.
The sole is also another of its strengths. Although the tread is not particularly abrupt, the grip is very good both on rock and on the stirrup. And as usual, the reinforcements in the support area, both of the footboard itself and of the brake pedal, are appreciated. This promotes the durability of a sole that is also replaceable.
The best
- Design and good finishes
- Adjustment with top velcro
- Hardness reinforcements in key areas
- Resistant soles and good grip
- A sense of poise and stability on the bike
To be improved
- Medium hardness
- Narrow boot opening to loosely insert the foot
- Optimal weight, but there is room for improvement

Dynamically it is not one of the softest boots on the market. It offers that optimal compromise between firmness and flexibility, but bets on extra safety for the rider by reinforcing key areas such as the toe or heel.
Obviously, this flexibility is something that is gained with use. The elastic inserts are perfectly located and it is a boot that takes maximum care of the details, as can be seen in the heel or shin ends.
In this new edition, it can be seen that the redesign of the upper helps to make the feel on the gear lever more precise. There’s less height at this point and you enjoy greater sensitivity.
If we go inside the boot we find a velvety finish and the classic ankle reinforcement, which must ensure the durability of the boot, since it receives all the weight of the friction between the boot and the chassis of the motorcycle, as well as providing a plus of comfort.
Finally, the tightness of the boot seems very good to us in these first contacts. Without being a completely “waterproof” boot (only the Gaerne GoreTex are), it perfectly fulfills its function of safeguarding us from water on rainy days, mud or even support in rivers. Of course, if you walk for several seconds through deep areas of water, you will end up getting wet.
In short, Hebo has evolved its Technical range in the right direction and seeks to reposition itself as a benchmark in the trial boot, a truly competitive territory with great players such as Gaerne, Mots or Alpinestars.
Another point in Hebo’s favor is the extension of its range. On this same Tecnical Micro base we have up to four finishes, and two additional ones in leather that we tell you about below.
