Toni Bou returns to training a few days before the start of the World Championship: “the goal is to score as many points as possible”

Toni Bou began training on the bike last Saturday, just a week before the start of the 2021 Trial World Championship, after his fibula operation.

In just one month, the Piera rider has undergone an operation at the Mi Tres Torres clinic, in charge of Dr. Josep Torrent and Dr. Maurise Saur and supervised by the team doctor, Dr. Joaquim Terricabras; and after an intense recovery plan to ensure the presence in the Italian GP, which will be held next Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13 in Tolmezzo.

The main unknown, including for Toni Bou himself, is to understand what level he will be able to be at during these first races, as he has not yet undergone the intensity involved in a World Championship race.

ABOUT THE ITALIAN TRIAL GP

The 2021 Italian TrialGP will be held in Tolmezzo, in the Udine region, at the foot of the Eastern Alps. The new regulations for this season affect the route, which will have, unlike last season, only two laps of a total of 12 sections. The maximum time allowed to complete the first lap will be two and a half hours. After a 15-minute break for refreshments, the second pass to the areas will take place in one hour and 45 minutes, with the maximum total time allowed per rider being 4h30m. On Saturday, the race will start at 10:00 and on Sunday, at 09:00

TONI BOU STATEMENTS

Ton Bou: "Looking ahead to Italy, everything is unknown, but after the injury we have been very careful to try to get to this first race of the World Championship with maximum security that the bone has gripped well. Things can still happen, because it's only been a month since the operation, but our goal is clear: to get to Italy to score as many points as possible. We will try to get through the weekend, which will be very hard for us because a month out takes a lot of toll on our physical condition. On the other hand, we know, from experience, as it's not the first time it's happened to us, what can happen to us, but we'll try to take advantage of the good feelings and think about the championship."
