Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) has closed the FIM X-Trial World Championship season with a resounding and clear victory in Tallinn, adding the capital of Estonia to the long list of cities in which he has triumphed.
Bou, who ends the season with six victories and two second places, had already won Q1, Superpole and, in the third zone of the final, which ended up being disputed over five, he has already taken a significant advantage to certify the victory in the penultimate section and end up scoring 8 points on a very demanding route.
The excitement was present in the fight for the other two podium positions as Jack Peace (Sherco) who was competing in his first final, Jaime Busto (GasGas) and Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) reached the last zone separated by a single point. In that last section, Busto has penalized one point, Marcelli, who had started with 3 fives, has added two points and Peace has taken a 5 that has left him 2 points behind Marcelli’s third place. In the end, the GasGas rider has totaled 15 points, the Honda 17 and the British 19.
Peace has qualified for the final being the most effective and fastest in Q2 while Bincaz who debuted the Electric Motion in the individual X-Trial, Canales (Montesa), Haga (GasGas) and Green (Scorpa) have been out of the competition.
At the end of the race, in addition to the podium of the race, the trophies were awarded to the three best in the Championship in which Toni Bou celebrated his nineteenth world title, Jaime Busto a new runner-up and Gabriel Marcelli the third position.
Bou has totaled 135 points, Busto 112 and Marcelli 81 discounting each of them their corresponding worst result, Bincaz has finished fourth and Raga, who retired finishing second in Barcelona, has closed the Top5.
Toni Bou (1st): “Although I had already won the title in advance, this victory was special because I won all the rounds of the race that had a really high level of demand. This is definitely the best way to close the season in the World Championship.”
Jaime Busto (2nd): “I’m happy with how things went today because I felt very good from the beginning. I had a mistake in the final but I’m super happy to have finished the season like this and the world runner-up I got.”
Gabriel Marcelli (3rd): “The truth is that I haven’t started very well anymore. In Q1 I didn’t feel totally comfortable with the bike anymore. I started the final with a mistake in the first zone and from there, I focused and I think I rode quite well although today’s balance is not satisfactory. I expected something more from the season but the third place finish is satisfying.”
