Gas Gas, the historic manufacturer of trial and enduro motorcycles, has bet heavily on several luxury signings such as riders Laia Sanz and Marc Guasch and engineer Pere Ibáñez, for the new season.

The Brilliant World Champion Laia Sanz makes the leap to the Catalan brand to compete simultaneously in international trial, enduro and raid championships. After their signings, both Sanz and Guasch have got down to work and are already working at full capacity in preparation for the 2012 Dakar.

This year, the Dakar 2012 offers a colossal adventure that takes the rally from the Atlantic to the Pacific coasts of more than 9,000 kilometres in total. The tough course will transport the participants to new challenges, to unknown terrain. The importance of this new Dakar can also be seen in the modification of the sporting format, as it will take the riders to cover the route over 14 days. Under the constant protection of the Andean Mountains, which will also serve as an imposing guide, the pilots will cross the Atacama Desert, also experiencing the challenge of the eternal Peruvian dunes, which will remind the most experts of the race of distant Mauritania.

Registration for the race is open, which makes it the ideal race for adventure lovers. The participation of amateur competitors often reaches 80% of those registered.

Gas Gas: Passion & Team

Faithful to the new positioning of the brand, Gas Gas faces this Pan-American challenge with the same enthusiasm with which the competition team attends the different world events in their different modalities: with A desire to excel and with the conviction that teamwork is vital to overcome the most difficult tests. The route of the Dakar 2012 will be the main witness of this challenge, as this event faithfully reflects the values of the brand: adventure, freedom and passion for the world of motorcycles.

Laia Sanz prepares for the Dakar with the new Gas Gas

The Catalan rider has been training on the off-road track of the Alcañíz circuit in order to be able to face next season with guarantees and above all, the Dakar, which will begin on January 1 in Argentina, Chile and Peru.

To prepare for this test and also to continue adapting to the new motorcycle, the young woman spent several days training on the different off-road tracks installed in the surroundings of the Motorland circuit, belonging to the same complex.
