Last Wednesday, the Prince of Asturias, together with the Chairman of Repsol, Antonio Brufau, and the Minister of Industry, José Manuel Soria, inaugurated the expansion of the Repsol refinery in Cartagena. As the culmination of a special week for Cartagena, the riders Dani Pedrosa and Marc Márquez have attended, along with thousands of Cartagena residents, a spectacular trial exhibition, starring Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami.

The party was completed with an aerial exhibition by the Repsol Aerobatic Flight Team and with the signing of autographs by all the drivers, who also wanted to join with this special visit to the events organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the expansion of the refinery, the largest industrial investment in the history of Spain, with nearly 3,200 million euros.

The Cartagena refinery, the first in the Iberian Peninsula, has been expanded by 60 hectares and more than 30 units, placing it at the forefront in Europe in terms of efficiency and sustainability. Repsol’s industrial complex in Cartagena has generated 800 direct jobs, 800 more indirect jobs and 8,000 induced jobs.
