Controversial start of the 2025 TrialGP World Championship in Benahavis, with victories for Bou and Busto

The 2025 trial world championship has started with the Spanish Grand Prix, held in Benahavis, Malaga.

We tell you in the POST video what happened in this opening race, where a new race format was released that basically addressed the following points:

  • Reduction of time in the zone to 1 minute (previously 1:30 minutes)
  • Power section: a zone that is contested at the end of zone 12 on the last lap. The one who invests the least time wins and earns 3 points for the championship. This generated great conflicts due to the lack of means (there was no photocell, only a stopwatch). The second day ended up not being held and these points would not go up to the general classification.
  • There was no “qualify” to determine the starting order, as announced.
  • The backpacker always enters the zone behind the rider, who in turn enters the zone when the referee whistles, not when the rider decides.
  • Now, each lap counts as a separate race, so 40 points are distributed each day, although the podium is celebrated with the best of the calculation of both laps.
  • Toni Bou wins on Saturday, followed by Marcelli and Jaime Busto. On Sunday the victory went to Busto in the tiebreaker with Bou, closing the podium Marcelli.
  • In Trial2, a complicated debut for the electric Honda and Miquel Gelabert, ninth and seventh. On the other hand, Benoit Bincaz, another TrialGP rider who has gone down to Trial2 with electric, the Electric Motion, had a spectacular debut, second and fourth.
  • Victories for Billy Green on Saturday and a spectacular George Hemingway on Sunday.
  • Berta Abellán is leading in the women’s category after a second and first place.
  • Double victory for Jonas Jorgensen in Trial3
  • Sara Trentini leaves leader of the Trial2 Women category after a victory and second position. Victory for Arbón on the first day, double podium for Margaux Pena and Daniela Hernando third on the second day.

In the POST video we tell you more details, with the intervention of Toni Bou and Jorge Rodriguez, from Electric Motion.
