Busto and Marcelli share the victories at the CET in Arteixo

The Spanish Trial Championship kicked off its 2024 season in the Galician town of Arteixo, the world championship venue in 2023 under the baton of the Moto Club Arteixo.

The weather forecast for the weekend was complicated. Cold, rain and wind were expected. And so it was, especially on Sunday, where the rain did not stop from Saturday night, leaving the terrain even more complicated due to the mud and erosion of the first day of competition.

On a sporting level, we witnessed Adam Raga’s debut with Sherco in an outdoor competition, achieving two podiums, the first of them just three points behind the second classified. With this, the driver from Tarragona showed that he maintains the level of last season despite the change of brand and confirms his good adaptation to the Sherco ST 2024.

The fight for victory was more even on Saturday, where Jaime Busto won, than on Sunday, where it was Gabriel Marcelli who took the cat. A result that generates the first draw of the season between the two favorites for the absolute national title.

On Saturday both drove from less to more, managing to drastically lower their splits on the second lap, quite the opposite of Adam Raga, who led the first lap, but was not able to manage that advantage for the rest of the competition.

After Saturday’s podium positions, it was Aniol Gelabert and Jorge Casales, TRRS drivers, who were in charge of completing the top five. Behind, further away, Pablo Suárez, Alex Canales, Gil Vila and Gerard Trueba.

On Sunday, with the adverse weather we mentioned, we attended a master class by Gabriel Marcelli on the first lap, signing a card of only three points. The Galician driver was able to manage this advantage well on the second lap, where he made some extra mistakes that he was able to mitigate in the last part of the race.

Busto’s career was just the opposite: from less to more. A comeback that was not enough to fight for victory, but it was enough to be co-leader of Arteixo and stay in the pulse of the championship where he is defending the title for the second consecutive year.

On this second day of the race, the fourth position went to Jorge Casales, who had a great race and was just one point away from the podium, beating Aniol Gelabert, with whom he shares the brand and bike. Behind, Pablo Suárez, Alex Canales, Gerard Trueba and Gil Vila closing the classification.
