This Sunday, starting at 17:00, the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona will be the scene of a new chapter in the intense battle for the leadership of the X-Trial Championship between Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Jaime Busto (GasGas). In addition, the Barcelona event will host the first edition of the FIM Women’s X-Trial Trophy, with scoring events in both Barcelona and Stavanger.
The fight for the title is closer than ever. Bou arrives with an advantage of only five points over Busto, having won two races against one of his rival. In third place is Adam Raga (Sherco), who has already been on the podium twice this season. Barcelona will be a special event for him, as it will mark his farewell to the competition after announcing his retirement. His career leaves an impressive legacy: four world titles, 38 victories in the Championship and six triumphs at the Palau Sant Jordi.
The fight for fourth place is also red hot. Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Benoit Bincaz (Sherco) are tied on 24 points. Together with them, Matteo Grattarola (Beta), who already knows what it is like to get on the podium at Sant Jordi, as he achieved it in 2022; Aniol Gelabert (TRRS), who will make his debut in the 2025 season; and the young Briton Harry Hemingway (Beta), who has just turned 19.
On the other hand, the FIM Women’s X-Trial Trophy will have its official premiere in Barcelona with a team of top-level riders. Among the participants are Berta Abellán (Scorpa), winner in 2024, the Italian Andrea Sofia Rabino (Beta), third in the last edition, the French Naomi Monnier (Montesa), the British Alice Minta (Beta) and the Czech Denisa Pechakova (TRRS). It will be the fifth time that women compete in Barcelona, but the first time in which they do so within an official Trophy. The second and final round will be held in Stavanger, Norway.
With all these ingredients, the spectacle is guaranteed in a race that has been part of the history of X-Trial since its first edition in 1978.
